You Tried 01:56
I was waiting for an answer but I lost my nerve, Slipped into the darkening horizon’s curve, Is there anything that can erase the way things were? I know you tried. Surrendered in the cosmos, Confessing to the rain, From the bottom of the ocean where there’s no place left to sink. Reaching through the heavens, Tearing up the sky, Talking circles in the future like you thought we couldn’t die, When it's hard enough Just staying alive, Whatever way you spin it, I’ve looked, I swear, I just can’t see the beauty in it. I’ve looked, I swear, I just can’t see it.
2.
Unfolding 03:43
Let me out, The wires are all showing, Sleight of hand is slowing, Everything explained. Further now From anything absolving, Nothing left to solve, and, Nothing left to say. In time Untrace Any part of this still holding. I am not breaking, I am not broken, I am unfolding. I am not breaking, I am not broken, I am unfolding. Settle in The ordinary sequence, Scatter all your reasons, And leave the rest behind. Lost to win, Everything believed in, Trust the sense to bleed in, Carried to the light. In time Untrace Every part of this still holding. You are not breaking, You are not broken, You are unfolding. You are not breaking, You are not broken, You are unfolding.

Every Colour 03:56
I’ve been staring at the ceiling Trying to figure out How we end up here time and time again, Swallowed up in doubt. Brother, I quit dreaming Around the time that you did, And traded hopes of leaving For the role where I’m best suited. Do you hear me screaming Up into the sky, “What’s the sense in grieving, If nobody really dies?” Oh, I feel the hours slipping While I stumble to the edge, Losing faith in everything When I couldn’t make a dent. ‘Cause I seem to forget When I get all worked up, That you can find every colour If you look close enough. Ooh, ooh, ooh. There’s a certain bit of stillness That I only ever chase, Like eyes before they open Or a storm before it breaks. Running fingers into soil Releasing all its heat, Well I can feel the humming Of the earth beneath my feet. But still I seem to forget When I get all worked up, That you can find every colour If you look close enough. Ooh, ooh, ooh. (If you’re looking close enough.) Ooh, ooh, ooh. (If you’re looking close enough.)
4.
Trust me when I say that I understand That believing in nothing is a lead-heavy hand, That the fate of the water resolves in the sand, That maybe all we’re doing’s for nothing. But you pace down the hallway with nothing to say, And the chords all feel empty when you sit down to play, So you stand in the doorway and wait for a change, Wishing that every piece was for something. But if nothing is sacred, Then nothing is lost, And I’m in your corner Whatever the cost, And if the fists that are flying are keeping you down Then we’ll fight a little harder, And find another way around. But still the traces of you seem to lie spread apart, The engine won’t turn and the furnace won’t spark, Conversations of futures resign to the dark, Feels like all that you’ve built may just crumble. But, I know that I see, in your eyes, there’s a space, To salvage the moments all nearly erased, To finally hold on to the feelings you chase, To learn how to sprint through a stumble. ‘Cause if nothing is sacred, Then nothing is lost, And I’m in your corner Whatever the cost, If the fists that are flying are keeping you down Then we’ll fight a little harder, And find another way around. If the fists that are flying are keeping you down We’ll fight a little harder, And find another way around.
5.
I’ll admit it, I came here looking for a miracle, I heard the engine breaking down And I felt the brakes go. But maybe that’s what happens At a certain point in time, The contrast starts to ease back ‘Til the lyric doesn’t rhyme. My mind plays tricks on me, I see it now, I could’ve sworn I had felt all I had felt all I would feel, But I’m not holding for a hiding place, Just a slow correction of the wheel. And all I see now Is a stranger in your place, Who caught you with your guard down And couldn’t hesitate. But maybe that’s what happens, Every now and then, The colours get so washed out That the story doesn’t end. So, life played a trick on you, I see it now, Trying every chance to tell you how to feel, but, Maybe all it takes to find your way Is a slow correction of the wheel. Still there’s a feeling that I get That I just can’t figure out, When I open up my mouth and I can’t ever make a sound, And I’m headed for the shoulder with the tires spinning now, And the music’s making more sense Than the words I’ve written down. But still, on the darkest days, I see it now, That there’s just no telling what ain’t real, But maybe all that matters anyway, Is a slow correction of the wheel. Maybe all that matters anyway, Is a slow correction of the wheel.

Care Of 03:36
Did I hear you call my name? Standing on a ledge, Stuck inside your games, Blood a softened red, Readied for the winds, Waiting for a friend, How anything begins, Can't be how this ends. But I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone, No, I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone. ‘Cause there was something that was said Barely out of range, About giving up your say And dying on a stage, That I try to forget, I'm still here, anyway, Patient in my place, Not turning the next page. But I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone, No, I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone, No, I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone, No, I can't picture what's to come, Care of anyone.

Feel It 03:25
Get it all out now, Anything you need, While the book is open, Cold and incomplete. Nearly disappeared, Who I could’ve been, Cast into the heat, Recklessly in spin. But, wait, Something got left out, Isn’t someone meant to be Standing beside me? ‘Cause I can’t feel it, I can’t feel it, Like the most important piece Is always buried underneath And I can’t feel it, No, I can’t feel it, No, I can’t. And on a turn of phrase Surrender to the side, Bury all the meaning, Wash over the white, ‘Cause I can hear the loss Inside everything, Torn into the grandeur, Hollowed to the skin. But, wait, Something got left out, Isn’t someone meant to be Standing beside me? ‘Cause I can’t feel it, I can’t feel it, Like the most important piece Is always buried underneath And I can’t feel it, No, I can’t feel it, No, I can’t. ‘Cause we’re caught up, Our credence failing us. With our eyes shut, We wander in the dust. ‘Cause I can’t feel it, (I can’t feel it) I can’t feel it, (I can’t feel it) Like the most important piece Is always buried underneath And I can’t feel it, (I can’t feel it) I can’t feel it, (I can’t feel it) No, I can’t.

Surviving 03:16
It's there in your eyes, The way this world Has held us down. The shifting of light, Of second tries, No break in the sound. Wherever the road is To stay alive, To find a way out, We lost the control, and, We're on our own, At least for now. Just Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, And nothing else. And it’s falling apart Around us now, The room in a spin. I hear the howl of the wind And the pounding of the rain, And I'd give everything to dream again. There must be more than Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, Surviving, And nothing else. I’d give everything to dream again.
9.
In all of these thoughts I feel a silence, And finally, here, A sort of rest. And, everything we had Washed clean of novelty, at last. For all that you’re worth I leave you slowly, With temperate breath And softened step, While, nothing but your dreams, And your waking hours are left. But, everything is folded up, Everything is folded up. So, eventually I Will wake in stillness, Desperate for What I felt last, Oh, but all the times that I Held you in selfish greed have passed. Oh, all the times that I Held you in selfish green have passed.
10.
Half-Saved 03:25
Your voice is ringing in my ears, Cadenced and ever-clear. I’m in the middle of the road, Unrequited, uncontrolled. Caught still in heavy-handed swing, Swallowed while the heavens sing, To be God-damned, But never feel a thing. To be half-loved, Or half-saved, Still means something but It’s in a form I can’t explain. To have half-gone, Or half-stayed, Maybe I’d never really found Or really lost my way. I held close the hands I used to know, Suspended in the altar’s glow. Dissolve in harmony and grace, Hidden in that stranger’s face. But still I can’t escape the sounds That keep me held down to the ground, Their voices have all become too loud. To be half-loved, Or half-saved, Still means something but It’s in a form I can’t explain. To have half-gone, Or half-stayed, Maybe I’d never really found Or really lost my way.
11.
The blood rushing in, Rhythm is thrown, The floor's giving out, Dragging me home. And somebody, fading, Moved in the grass, Like just for a second A decade had passed. So bend the rules, Or break them all, You and I, The same old cloth. You're the one, You're the one, You're the one, You're the one. And I’m caught in the balance, The wind taking hold, So sit for a while Burn out the cold. I guess I was the killer And you were the cave, ‘Cause you open your eyes And I'm already saved. So bend the rules, Or break them all, You and I, The same old cloth. Bend the rules, Or break them all, Lights blown out And curtain's called. You're the one, You're the one, You're the one, You're the one. Yes, you. Yes, everything. Yes, all there is, Or nothingness. You're the one, You're the one, You're the one, You're the one. That I want, That I want, That I want, That I want.
12.
It’s different now, The power that I used to feel Has faded out, Lost sight, lost hold of the wheel, And I wonder, still, Is this life what you had hoped it would be? But, it’s closer now, What I saw in your eyes, That our days, somehow, Aren’t just a roll of the dice. In my clearest dreams, Every moment is setting us free. ‘Cause if nothing is over, Then nothing is lost, After all of this I know we’re better off. If nothing is ending, Then nothing is gone, I can feel it all around. There’s a vision here Of how the emptiness fills, Measured out When the air is finally still. And, I can wait forever, Until we both get it right, And we will. Because if nothing is over, Then nothing is lost, After all of this I know we’re better off. If nothing is ending, Then nothing is gone, I can feel it all around. Nothing is over, Nothing is over, Nothing is lost. Nothing is over, Nothing is over, Nothing is lost.

about

The songs on this album are accounts of the moments that I have collected over the course of my life while I continue to discover and understand the depths of what it means to be alive. For all that exists in this world, I feel extraordinarily lucky to be breathing and able to write songs, and luckier still that there are those of you who listen to them.

The gratitude that I feel for the words and music that I have been able to borrow and repurpose over the course of my career is infinite, and I owe my life to it.

For you - my family, my friends, and my teachers.

Recorded in British Columbia at Monarch Studios, Afterlife Studios, and Brantford House on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.

100% of the Bandcamp proceeds from Nothing is Lost and from my entire discography will be donated to different non-profits supporting BIPOC indefinitely, starting with the Native Women’s Association of Canada and Campaign Zero. I love and appreciate you and your support more than you know, and if nothing else I hope this music brings a bit of extra light into your world while you keep using your voices to fight for lasting social change. x
